Other Helpful Directions

FOR ALL DIRECTIONS, START BY RETURNING TO ROUTE 2. TURN ONTO ROUTE 2 AS INDICATED. (We have heard locals call Route 2 the Noord Road, but it's Route 2 on the maps).

Arashi Beach - Turn left onto Route 2. Continue to the "T" intersection at the end of Route 2 and turn right onto Route 1. Go about a quarter mile to the beach on the left. (Continuing past Arashi Beach will take you to the Lighthouse which has La Trattoria El Faro Blanco, a favorite restaurant for lunches with a great view.)

A quiet spot off the beaten track - Following the directions to Arashi, above, after you take the right onto Route 1, take the first left, and you will be looking at a small beach which is often completely deserted. It's a little rocky for swimming but is a beautiful lttle spot that you won't find on a map.

High Rise District - Turn right onto Route 2. Take a right at the light and go straight to the end at "T" intersection. The shops and cinemas are to the right.

Palm Beach - See High Rise district directions, above. All beaches are public, but you will have to cut through the hotels to the beach. There are public access paths, including, for example, next to the Holiday Inn.

Kong Fui grocery store is also on the road to Palm Beach.  It has later Sunday hours than most grocery stores on the island.

Ling and Sons (the largest grocery on the island, which also has a good wine and spirits selection) - Turn right onto Route 2. Proceed through the first light to the first traffic circle. Take a right at the circle. Go 2.1 KM. Take a left at the sign pointing to Ling & Sons. (There will be a Texaco on your right.) The sign pointing to Ling & Sons say "2 miles" but it is just under 2 km, which is about 1 mile.

Restaurants - Don't be shy about asking for directions. Some of the better ones are a bit tricky to find, but well worth the trip.
